Courtyard Colonial Two is the second of two Spanish-inspired homes designed for lifelong friends raising young families in Paradise Valley, Arizona. Drawing inspiration from our Glaus Residence and Colonial Courtyard One projects, the layout responds directly to the site’s mountain views and unique orientation opportunities.

This home is organized around an “H-shaped” parti, with a welcoming entry courtyard on the north and a spacious pool courtyard to the south. A dramatic upper-level loggia, complete with fireplace, anchors the rear elevation and provides panoramic views of the surrounding mountains to the north, east, and west—views not available from the ground floor.

The entry sequence begins at custom wood gates that open into a gracious courtyard featuring a stone fountain, mature olive trees, and a shaded front door loggia. A sculptural exterior stairway leads visitors up to the rooftop space, adding a dynamic vertical element to the experience of arrival. Expansive steel-sash windows and doors in the living and dining rooms blur the boundary between indoor and outdoor space, fostering a warm, inviting atmosphere.

The restrained architectural forms, crisp white plaster, and deep loggias frame an interior courtyard that channels an Ibiza-inflected sensibility—enhanced by rustic wood beams, cool tiled floors, and the contrast of bright blue pool water and silvery-green olive trees.
