While Scottsdale’s zoning and building regulations are similar in some respects to other jurisdictions in the larger Phoenix Metro area, there are important distinctions; understanding those distinctions, and how to best leverage them, is a critical part of what we do on a client’s behalf. Understanding of setbacks, height restrictions, accessory structures, and especially rules of private Design Review Committees or HOAs is critical to project success. We have good relationships in these areas and work hard to keep it that way.
While most of our work in Scottsdale has been “new build” work, we do take on select additions and renovations where we believe that the underlying structure has great design potential and “great bones”. Additionally, we really want to encourage those that have legacy/historic homes in Scottsdale to keep them, and improve them, so we’re always happy to discuss how we can help.
There are now parts of Scottsdale where undeveloped land is getting scarce: they’re not (as the old joke goes) “making any more of it”. At this point, we’ve been on every side of the argument: tear down, don’t tear down, or maybe “tear down just a part . . .”, with clients that have lived on the property for years, and those that just acquired it. We can help ascertain what makes the most sense, and help you understand what is gained or lost within those decisions.
We’re happy to discuss fees in person; our fees will vary slightly based on the size of the project, the anticipated complexity, timeframes, location (i.e. Design Review Committee/HOA or not) and most importantly whether renovation or new build.
